Kunowice ( _de. Kunersdorf) is a
village inPoland inSłubice County , (Lubusz Voivodship ), east ofSłubice , nearPuszcza Rzepińska . It had 700 inhabitants in 2008.As Kunersdorf, the village was first documented in 1337 as part of the
Neumark region of theMargraviate of Brandenburg . In12 August 1759 at theBattle of Kunersdorf , thePrussian army of King Frederick the Great ofPrussia was destroyed in Kunersdorf by Russian and Austrian armies. In 1815 after theNapoleonic Wars it became part of the PrussianProvince of Brandenburg . Kunersdorf became part of theGerman Empire in 1871 during theunification of Germany , and was administered within the districtWeststernberg in 1873. Kunersdorf was placed under Polish administration in 1945 according to thePotsdam Agreement and renamed Kunowice.The Kunowice railway station appeared in the 2004 German film "
Distant Lights " ("Lichter").
