photographer , born inZurich in 1946.Photography
Walter Pfeiffer has been producing since the 1970s, photographing friends and strangers in visceral and corporeal portraits which place his photography on the border of
Realism andFashion photography. He belongs to a generation of photographers who, unaware of one another, began producing a body of work which handled notions of intimacy andgender , and would change our perception of realism in photography, such asNan Goldin andNobuyoshi Araki . The works of these three photographers can be seen as the link between the realistic documentation the 1950s and 1960s photography, and the dissolving of borders between genders and genres in the photograophy of the 1990s and early 2000s, with artists such asWolfgang Tillmans ,Ryan McGinley ,Slava Mogutin ,Heinz Peter Knes orJack Pierson .His publications include "Welcome Aboard" and the latest "Night and Day" by publisher Hatje Cantz.
