Peter Lewis is a former British television continuity announcer.
He started announcing at
Television Wales and West (TWW) during the mid to late sixties. Before his career had begun, Peter's family were already well known in Wales and the West of England. His father,Bruce Lewis , had already been a hugely popular presenter for TWW and his brother, Martyn Lewis would later become a journalist and newsreader forITN and theBBC . He is also the niece of folk musicianSylvie Lewis .Lewis joined
London Weekend Television during its opening month in August 1968 and around the same time, freelanced forYorkshire Television . Later, he chose to concentrate on his work for LWT and became the first person to broadcast from the company's then-new headquarters on the South Bank of the river Thames in 1971. California . During his time at LWT, he was a regular newsreader for "London News Headlines" (later "LWT News Headlines") between 1982 and 1988. Lewis also announced forHTV West on weekdays. He returned to LWT in 1998 to present special in-vision continuity links, marking the station's 30th birthday.Lewis now runs a
