John Molander was a professional American Middleweight boxer from
Centereach ,Long Island ,New York . He was born on November 16, 1951. As an amateur boxer Molander advanced to the finals of the 1972 New York Golden Gloves 147lb. Sub-Novice Division. He was defeated atMadison Square Garden by Ernie Johnson when the referee stopped the contest in the first round.Molander started his professional career in 1975. On May 30, 1975 Molander was stopped in the fifth round by fellow Long Islander John Capobianco at the now defunct
Long Island Arena in Commack,Long Island ,New York . Molander rebounded from this loss and scored four consecutive wins. One of the Victories was a first round knockout over Elijah Hamm and the Great Gorge Resort inMcAfee ,New Jersey .On June 13, 1980 Molander lost a disputed six round decision to veteran Ali Perez at the
Felt Forum inNew York City . After the Perez bout, Molander ran off five straight victories including 4 knockouts. In his last professional bout Molander was defeated by future Middleweight contender James Green at the Ice World inTotowa ,New Jersey .Molander's unofficial professional record was nine wins and five losses. Seven of his nine wins were by knockout.
