The Ragman's Son

"The Ragman's Son" is the title of the first autobiographical novel by actor Kirk Douglas, published in 1988. In this book Douglas chronicles his life story, from his humble beginnings as the only son in a family of seven girls born to poor Jewish parents, to his lust to become an actor and make something out of his life. He candidly writes of studying drama at University to getting his big break in Hollywood, to his later years where he jokingly remarks that he is now best known as the father of Michael Douglas.
