John Lucarotti (
May 20 ,1926 inAldershot ,Hampshire —November 20 ,1994 ) was a British-born Canadianscreenwriter who began his career at CBC, writing over 200 various scripts for them as well as for Canadian television. He then moved back to England where he had a prolific career. He created in no particular order: the television series "Operation Patch " which he then novelised, "The Ravelled Thread " and "The Panther's Leap " ; he also wrote ten episodes for "The Avengers", thirty-two episodes for "The Troubleshooters " and contributed fifteen episodes to the "Doctor Who " programme for theBBC in the 1960s. These together formed the three serials "Marco Polo", "The Aztecs" and "The Massacre of St Bartholomew's Eve ". He subsequently novelised his scripts forTarget Books . He also contributed a script for what ultimately became the 1975 serial "The Ark in Space ", but it was rewritten by script editor Robert Holmes, and Lucarotti receives no on-screen credit. He also contributes to the "Star Maidens ", "Onedin Line ". Other British television programmes for which John Lucarotti wrote included "Lieutenant Hornblower ", "The Labyrinth ", "Kippers and White Wine ", "United! " and "Moonbase 3 ".John Lucarotti also wrote for French and Swiss television. He died in Paris on
