Audio sample? ="I Will Be" is aPop rock ballad written by Canadian singerAvril Lavigne ,Lukasz Gottwald andMax Martin . The song was originally recorded by Lavigne in 2006, and is included on the Limited Edition version of her third studio album, "The Best Damn Thing ". The song was later covered by British singerLeona Lewis in 2007, for her debut album, "Spirit".Singer
Katy Perry is quoted as saying "'I Will Be' is a song I have known for a while… From the outside looking in I know that everyone was fighting for Avril to put this on her record but for reasons I will not disclose, Avril, did not... I rememberDr. Luke playing this song for me months ago and I was at the point of tears knowing I heard a song that would be the hugest thing ever… I mean, people, be prepared to hear this song at EVERY WEDDING for a LONG time." "I Will Be" is lyrically similar to Lavigne's past hit, "
When You're Gone ". In the chorus of "I Will Be", Lavigne sings, "I'll be with you forever, to get you through the day, and make everything okay". The chorus to "When You're Gone" has a similar embodiment- "The words I need to hear, to always get me through the day, and make it okay". The lyrics toLeona Lewis ' version of the song are slightly altered- in theMiddle 8 , Lewis sings, "Without you, I can't breathe", whereas in the original recording, Lavigne sings, "Without you, I can't sleep".References
