He earned his Candidate of Military Sciences in 1940. He was also a senior lecturer at theUSSR General Staff Academy during 1940-1941 and 1943-1945, and was the chief of USSRSupreme Command Course s 1945-1947.He was one of the Lithuanian officers raised in the army of the
Russian Empire (V. Putna, I. Uborevich, V. Penkaitis), who later went to serve in theRed Army . He participated in theFirst World War ,Russian Civil War ,Hamburg Uprising and theSecond World War . He is the onlyLithuania n to have taught in the prestigiousFrunze Military Academy and General Staff Academy (roughly equivalent to theCommand and General Staff College atFort Leavenworth ,Kansas or theBritish Army 's Staff College,Camberley ).Timeline

Šiauliai ,Lithuania . AfterLithuania regained its independence in 1990, this statue was taken down and now it is in the exposition of Sovietsculpture garden Grūtas Park .References
