Luis López de Mesa

Luis López de Mesa (*1884 - †1967), medical doctor, psychiatrist, and pedagogue, rector of the National University of Colombia, and Minister of Education. He created the first psychological test to be administered in Colombia in 1920, and was a co-founder of the Faculty (School) of Psychology at the National University of Colombia in 1947, together with Mercedes Rodrigo Bellido and José María García Madrid, among others. As Ministry of Foreign Issues from 1938 onwards was responsible for closing the Colombian doors to the Jewish people looking for shelter from Europe, paradoxically since he was of Jewish Sephardic descent. He even tried to erase this, destroying archives which wasn't possible in Spain nevertheless his position.
