Safe-space

Safe-space

In schools and education, "safe-space" is a term used to indicate that a teacher or educator does not tolerate anti-LGBT violence and harassment and is open and accepting, thereby creating a safe place for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students.

The term has been criticized Fact|date=June 2008 for implying that the rest of a school area is not a safe environment and implying that educators who are critical of sexual minorities create a dangerous space.
