"Pterotyphis zealandicus" is a species of small predatory sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Muricidae, the murex snails or rock snails.

Distribution

This species is endemic to the North Island of New Zealand.

Habitat

"Pterotyphis zealandicus" is found at depths of between 80 and 95 m.

hell description

The shell is three-winged, broadly triangular, with broad thin flanges, produced above into upcurved hollow or fused spines. The aperture is small and oval.

The maximum shell height is 31 mm, and the maximum width is 22 mm.
