"Fusitriton retiolus" is a species of large predatory sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Ranellidae, the tritons.

Distribution

This triton is endemic to south east Australia, and New Zealand including the Chatham Islands and the Auckland Islands.

Habitat

This species is found at depths of between 35 and 600 m.

hell Description

The shell is large and thin, with rounded whorls and distant weak varices. The spire is tall, and the siphonal canal is short and recurved. The aperture has a single parietal tubercle.

Coloration is whitish, with the spiral cords pale brown, and the whole surface is covered by a thick yellowish-olive periostracum.
