Lake Yonah is a picturesque river lake on the Tugaloo River, separating Georgia and South Carolina. The lake has two dams which are owned by Georgia Power, like most of the other lakes on this beautiful chain. Lake Yonah is a residential lake with about 72 vacational and/or permanent homes. As the Tugaloo river flows from Yonah through the lower dam, it continues to flow until it reaches Lake Hartwell, and then joins the Savannah River to the Atlantic Ocean. Another tributary to this great river is the Chattooga, flowing from inside South Carolina. LAke Yonah is also a source of fresh water for the town of Toccoa, about 20 miles away.
