Regina Richards, who uses the stage name Regina, is a
dance music singer born inBrooklyn , New York. She is best known for her hit "Baby Love", which hit #10 on theBillboard Hot 100 in 1986.At the time of the
song 's release, many people thought it was performed by another singer whose profile was on the rise from releasing dance/pop hits: Madonna. In fact, Regina co-wrote "Baby Love" with frequent Madonna collaborater Stephen Bray, and it was submitted to Madonna, who declined to record it - leaving it Regina and Bray to record themselves. Regina did, in fact, begin her recording career before Madonna's began, releasing analbum as Regina Richards and Red Hot on A&M (followed by a solo single, "Deep Dreaming")."Baby Love" was taken from Regina's "Curiosity" album (
Atlantic Records ), which also included "Say Goodbye," a song she had written withKenny Rogers ' voice in mind. Regina remains aone hit wonder on the Hot 100, but in addition to the #1 placing of "Baby Love," she had three other songs hit theHot Dance Music/Club Play chart. There was a second Regina album in the works called "Best Kept Secret", but it never reached the public.Regina graduated from Marymount Manhattan College in 1979 with a degree in theatre.

Brazil ), who charted with "Day By Day," which peaked at #11 in1997 .In 1991, Australian singer
