bullpup assault rifle chambered for the7.62x39 mm round, developed by the small arms designer German A. Korobov in 1965. It was designed for the likes of tank/aircraft crew and armoured troops who are must operate in confined spaces. This rifle did work well but was turned down by the Soviet army for being too radical of a departure from the familiar and easy-to-produceAKM rifles. Additional concern was raised over the durability of the weapon's plastic housing. From 1962 to 1968, a number of variants were produced, with the TKB-022PM5 being the last one manufactured and chambered for the 5.6x39mm experimental round, which evolved into the5.45x39mm round.Overview
The TKB-022PM is gas operated but uses a vertically moving bolt, similar to the antiquated
Martini-Henry rifle and the Madsen gun but with a U-shaped rammer/extractor to chamber and extract the cartridge. The weapon ejects through a tube above the barrel and above the muzzle. The TKB-022PM has the best barrel length to overall length ratio of the assault rifles. Firing from an unstable position, the weapon has three times better accuracy than the AKM.Fact|date=August 2008ee also
