Gerard Trower

The Rt Rev Gerard Trower was an Anglican Colonial Bishop for nearly three decades at the beginning of the 20th century. [Crockford's clerical directory1975-76 Lambeth, Church House, 1975 ISBN 0108153674] Born on 3 December 1860 at Hook in Yorkshire he was educated at Merchant Taylor’s and Keble College, Oxford. [Who was Who 1987-1990: London, A & C Black, 1991 ISBN 071363457X] Ordained in 1888 after a Birmingham Curacy [The Times, Monday, Oct 01, 1888; pg. 7; Issue 32505; col C "Ordinations- Diocese of Worcester"] he emigrated to Australia where he became Rector of Christ Church St. Laurence [ [http://www.ccsl.org.au/ Church Web-Site] ] in Sydney. When he left in 1901 for the Nyasaland Bishopric his parisioners awarded him a gold cross.
