Tigran Mansuryan was born in
Beirut ,Lebanon , but later moved to Armenia in 1947, settling inYerevan in 1956. He studied composition withEdvard Bagdasaryan at theRomanos Melikian College of Music inYerevan from 1956 to 1960 and withLazarus Saryan at theYerevan State Musical Conservatory from 1960 to 1965, with whom he also had post-graduate studies there from 1965 to 1967. Tigran Mansuryan taught modern music theory at theYerevan State Musical Conservatory from 1967 to 1986, composition since 1987 and from 1992 to 1995 he was the director of the same conservatory.Recently he left the teaching career and now concentrates on composition.
