The Roman Catholic Diocese of Kyiv-Zhytomyr (Latin: "Dioecesis Kioviensis-Zytomeriensis") is a diocese of the Latin rite of the Catholic Church in Ukraine. Jan Purwinski is the current bishop of the diocese. He was appointed to the See of Kyiv-Zhytomyr in 1992.

History

The history of the diocese begins in 1925, when the diocese of Lutsk-Zhytomyr was split into the dioceses of Lutsk and Zhytomyr. In 1998, the diocese was renamed the diocese of Kyiv-Zytomyr. In May of 2002, a substantial portion of the diocese was split off to form the diocese of Kharkiv-Zaporizhia.

Geography

The diocese is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Lviv of the Latins.
