Arizona Beverage Company

The Arizona Beverage Company is a popular producer of various flavors of iced tea and energy drinks from the United States, based in Lake Success, New York. The Arizona Beverage Company is a branch of Ferolito, Vultaggio & Sons, which started out as a brewery in New York City.

Arizona is known for its product line of "tall boy" drinks of 23.5 (recently scaled down to a flat 23) fl. oz. iced teas and other beverages for around $0.99 USD.

History

In August 2007, The Tata Group conglomerate of India began looking at a number of acquisition targets in the US beverage market and is expected to mount a $2-billion buyout offer for Arizona Beverages, which would add to Tata's portfolio of tea, coffee, water, juice brands, beer and snacks. If a bid goes through, the Tatas will keep both the bottled and powder beverage operations and may divest the beer and snack businesses. Tatas are believed to have been interested in Arizona Beverages for almost three years. Merrill Lynch is the group’s advisor for the possible bid. weet Tea Label controversy

In early 2008, AriZona changed the label on the packaging of their Southern Style Sweet Tea. On the old label, a southern-style house was shown, along with a couple on the front porch and one more woman in a dress walking away from the house. The controversy arose when the third woman was purported to be a slave working on a plantation. Because of this, the Sweet Tea label now shows two paddle boats on a moonlit river.
