The 2004–2005 season was Hereford United's 8th season in the Conference National which saw them finish as runners-up for the second successive season, behind Barnet. In a repeat of the previous season Hereford once again were eliminated in the semi-finals of the play-offs.

The season saw Hereford compete in five separate cup competitions as well as the Conference and the play-offs. The much derided Conference League Cup saw the lowest attendance for a national-level match at Edgar Street for many years.

The season's highest attendance of 6,862 has yet to be exceeded to date.
