Tyrrell Middle School is a secondary middle school in the town of Wolcott, Connecticut, serving grades 6–8. TMS accomidates its students from all three of Wolcott's elementary schools, serving over 750 students.

Mission Statement

To develop in each student the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for productive citizenship, including a personally rewarding quality of life, appreciation of heritage, and commitment to the ideals of democracy.

Principal

The current principal is Arline Tansley and the vice principal is Joeseph Norcross.

History

The school was originally constructed in 1947. Tyrrell MS used to be the elementary school, and Alcott Elementary School used to be the middle school. The dsitrict decided to add on to Tyrrell elementary school to make it ready to become Wolcott's new middle school. Meanwhile, Wolcott's old middle school (Alcott) simply became the district's elementary school as the town needed more space for its elementary students.

After School Activities

The school offers a wide array of extracurricular activities after school, including a writing club, a homework club,chess club, sports, jazz band, and much more.

Morning Announcements/Afternoon Dismisal

The school's morning news crew anchor announcements over closed circuit television each morning. All morning announcers are each assigned a day at the beginning of the year, (days 1,2,and 3)and rotate each day. Mr. Al Blancato is currently the director of the announcements. At the end of the day, the busses are broadcasted on television as they arrive
