Theodore Charles "Ted" Wakefield Capwell was a fictional character on the American soap opera "Santa Barbara". He was first portrayed by American actor Todd McKee from July 30 1984 to July 26 1989. Actor Michael Brainard took over the role two years later, and played it from October 8 1991 to January 15 1993.

Character History

Ted Capwell, the youngest child of C.C. and Sophia Capwell, was a part of the very first teen storyline. He was friends with Danny Andrade, Laken Lockridge and Jade Perkins. Laken and Ted fell in love with each other, but being the children of C.C. Capwell and Lionel Lockridge, long-time rivals, their loves was somewhat forbidden. [ [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VU2nCmLhB9Q Laken and Ted] ] Aside from a few adventures in Hollywood, and the never-ending quest for Laken, Ted got the shock of his life when his presumed-dead mother Sophia turned up well and alive, and he was one of the first members of the Capwell family to forgive Sophia, even though she wasn't guilty for disappearing years ago. Laken left town in 1985, leaving Ted on a quest for love. He met Christy DuVall, a beautiful young woman who was, at the time, raped by her step-brother Steve, who then convinced her to blame Ted for the rape. Ted then met Hayley Benson, Gina DeMott's niece and gave her a job at the Capwell mansion. Things started to get complicated when Hayley, as a part of a team that protesting against the new casino, accidentally killed Amy Perkins. To cover for her, Ted married Hayley, but their marriage was over when Hayley was raped by another man, and she couldn't face Ted anymore after that. Ted spent the next few months switching jobs and dating various women. Two years after his departure, Ted returned to Santa Barbara a changed man, ready to face new challenges. Angela then took an interest in Rafe Castillo, so Ted plotted with Lily Blake to help him win Angela back, and Lily wanted Rafe for herself. Ted and Lily eventually fell in love and gave up on their plotting. They got married.
