- Prestcold
Prescold was a UK refrigerator brand established by Pressed Steel Co. Ltd of
Oxford in 1934. Prestcold operated several manufacturing plants in the UK including Theale (near Reading) andCrymlyn Burrows in Wales. Prestcold household refrigerators were often known for their good design and durability. In the early 1960’s, the appliances were sold exclusively through John Bloom’sRolls Razor company and the name disappeared on domestic fridges on the collapse of that company.Prestcold, along with other parts of Morris Motors, was absorbed into BMC in 1966. Prestcold passed into Leyland Special Products after the
Ryder Report .Prestcold ended household refrigerator production and focused on parts and specialist cooling equipment. The Prestcold brand was still used for household refrigerators by
McAlpine Prestcold Limited in New Zealand.External Links
