Jungles of Iran

Jungles of Iran

Located in the Northern part of Iran and south of the Caspian Sea, there exist jungles in the form of a rain forests which stretch from the West in the Ardebil province to the East in the North Khorasan province, covering the other provinces of Gilan, Mazandaran, and Golestan. The Elburz or Alborz mountain range is the highest mountain range in the Middle East which captures the moisture of the Caspian Sea to its north and forms a subtropical rainforest in the northern part of Iran.

The Iranians call this forest and region, "Shomal", which means "North" in Persian.
