Laura Simmons Asher was a fictional character on the American soap opera "Santa Barbara". She was portrayed by actress Christopher Norris from March 8 1989 to July 5 1990.

Character History

Laura arrived in Santa Barbara along with her husband Ethan, who had succeeded Julia Wainwright in the position of the town's district attorney. She was surprised to find Michael Donnelly in town, a man responsible for her son's death when he was still working as a policeman, but Michael was also Laura's ex-lover. Things got complicated when another mystery from Michael's past arrived to haunt him, a mystery in the form of Leo Mitchell. When Leo was found murdered, Ethan tried to blame it on Michael, but Laura cleared Michael of all charges by admitting that she had short Leo in self-defense. Realizing that Laura had a big connection with Michael, Ethan found himself a new love interest, Gina Demott, while Laura had decided that she needs to work on her marriage. Phyllis Blake, Gina's mother, started blackmailing Laura by threatening to reveal that she shot Leo, but Laura payed her off to keep the truth hidden. To save her marriage, Laura lied to Ethan that she was pregnant, but Mack Blake, Gina's brother, learned the truth and that was the final straw for Ethan, who realized that his marriage is over. Laura had become psychotic and she ended up locked up in an asylum.

But the story wasn't over for Laura yet. Laura made up a plan of revenge, consisting of various crimes on the residents of Santa Barbara. She started off by setting the fire at the Lockridge mansion, shooting her husband, and then accidentally killing Sasha Schmidt. She then bargained with her ex-asylum friend Annie to help her kill Ethan, but she eventually revealed her crimes and was imprisoned.
