- Malón (band)
Malón was an Argentinian
thrash metal band. This band was the logical continuing of
HERMETICA , what is no wonder, as only the bass player is different. That there is not much difference is mainly because ofClaudio O`Connor`s striking voice, and the same standard of brilliantThrash hymns. The lyrics are again very critical, and talk about the life of the youth, and that's why they worship them. MALON became the most popular band of the underdogs, and you still can see a lot of their shirts in the wild suburbs. They got also known in other Latino countries, and played the "Monsters of Rock " 1995 in Brazil, and made a tour till Mexico. In the beginning of 1998 I saw their last concert, they split afterwards. First the poor kids turned themselves on with cheap wine and sniffing glue. It was impressing to see the young and wild bunch slamming and screaming every word of the MALON lyrics. The split was because of musical differences. Drummer Strunz deserted with his new band SYMBIOSIS into the Alternative scene, and the singer makes now with his solo projectO`CONNOR more Rock`n Roll influenced Metal. Only the guitar and bass player stuck together and make still the same kind of music with their new bandVISCERAL . Since summer 2001 this 2 guys and Mr. Strunz play again live together under the name MALON! They use a different singer, named Eduardo Ezcurra (ex TRAICION) who sounds absolutely the same, likeO`Connor , and the fans celebrate them very much! Now MALON was much more successful, as their other bands, and so was getting serious again! In summer 2002 they released a Mini CD, which contains the same style as before, as if there was no pause.... and no change of the singer! But this reunion without the most important member did not last long and the band split again in the beginning of 2003!Members
