"Urtica thunbergiana" is a species of the genus "Urtica". It is found in Japan, the Mainland China and Taiwan. The species is habitats in moist forests of mountains. It is in flower from July to September, and its seeds ripen from August to October. The larvae of "Vanessa indica", a species of butterfly, are known to feed on "U. thunbergiana".

"U. thunbergiana" has a Chinese common name commonly be used in Taiwan called "yǎorénmao" (Traditional Chinese: 咬人貓; literally: "biter cat"), and an another name commonly be used in Mainland China called "yǎorénxúnmá" (Simplified Chinese: 咬人荨麻; literally: "biter nettle").
