Heavenly Pursuits

Heavenly Pursuits (released in the USA as "The Gospel According to Vic") is a British film directed by Charles Gormley and was released in 1985. It stars Tom Conti and Helen Mirren.

Plot

The Blessed Edith Semple is in line to become the next Scottish saint, providing that she can be held responsible for two other miracles. In the Glasgow Catholic state school which bears her name, cynical schoolteacher Vic Matthews (Conti) is accomplishing his own brand of miracles as a teacher of remedial schoolchildren while pursuing fellow colleague Ruth (Mirren). Then inexplicable things start happening in Vic’s life …

The film was shot in various Glasgow locations, including the City Chambers (standing in for the Vatican) and Queen Street railway station.
