RCD Espanyol Bartolomé "Tintín" Márquez López (born
January 7 ,1962 inBarcelona ,Catalonia ), is a Spanish ex-footballer and current manager.As a player
He began playing football at FC Martinenc, in Barcelona, from where he was signed by
RCD Espanyol , in early 1980s. At Espanyol he played most of his career as a professional footballer but before playing for the first team he went out on loan at Sabadell (1980-1981 season) and later at Sant Andreu (1981–1982).He came back after those short spells at lower Catalan clubs in 1982 and remained at the club for six season in
Primera División . During that time, playing as a midfielder, scored a total of 29 goals in the 140 games he played wearing the "blanquiazul". One of his best memories while playing for Espanyol is the hat-tick he scored againstFC Barcelona , in a match at which the "pericos" won for 5-3. UEFA Cup but at that point, then-managerJavier Clemente didn't count with Márquez so Tintín left the club when the season ended. After that huge disappointment, he went to "les terres de l'Ebre" and played six seasons atUE Figueres , inSegunda División .As a manager
After hanging his boots, he began his managing career in 1997, at
CE Europa inTercera División . His debut couldn't have been better, as he surprisingly won the Catalonia Cup againstFC Barcelona in the final.Later on he began coaching at the youth teams of Espanyol. Year after year he kept going up at the several ranks (cadete, juvenil and Espanyol B) until he finally reached the first team, in 2004, first as second coach of
Miguel Ángel Lotina and two years later ofErnesto Valverde .After "Txingurri" left the club, he became Espanyol's first team manager.
