Stanisław Lorentz (1899-1991) - Polish scholar of music and history of art. Born in

He was a high ranking member of thePolish Underground State duringGerman occupation of Poland , tasked with preserving Polish cultural heritage. After the war, he resumed his post as the director of the National Museum in Warsaw; he became a member of several governmental departments and commissions related to art conservation and was also a deputy to the PolishSejm (1965–1969).UNESCO expert on Polish cultural heritage, highly active in the restoration of theRoyal Castle, Warsaw . Member ofPolish Academy of Learning andPolish Academy of Sciences .He held intensive correspondence with Lithuanian art conservation specialist
