- Peter Vodopivec
Peter Vodopivec (born
7 July 1946 ) is aSlovenia nhistorian andpublic intellectual .He was born in a Slovene family in
Belgrade ,Serbia , then capital of theSocialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia . He studied history at theUniversity of Ljubljana . After obtaining a PhD from history in 1978, he worked as a researcher on theAge of Enlightenment inFrance and in theU.S.A. .During the late 1960s, he was active in the student movement in Slovenia. In 1980, he was one of the co-founders of the alternative journal "
Nova revija ". In 1989, he was among the founding members of theSlovenian Democratic Union . After 1992, he left politics and dedicated to scholarly work.He is courrently a researcher at the
Institute for Modern History inLjubljana .Major works
