Bishop Manogue High School is a Catholic high school in Reno, Nevada. It is the only Catholic high school in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Reno.
History
The eponymous Catholic high school was established in Reno, Nevada, in 1948 named for the well-known Nevada Catholic Bishop, Patrick Manogue. [ [http://www.bishopmanogue.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=section&id=15&Itemid=40 "Homines Sicut Montes" - The History of Bishop Manogue Catholic High School] ] In 1957, the school, moved, from its location off of Mill Street, in Reno, to Valley Road adjacent to the University of Nevada. Bishop Manogue Catholic High School remained at this location for nearly fifty years, before being relocated once again in 2004, to a site in Southwest Reno. The 1957 Bishop Manogue was torn down after it was purchased by the University of Nevada. The site is now home to an athletic center.
Manogue's school colors are green and gold, and its mascot is the Miner, in tribute to the school's namesake, Bishop Patrick Manogue, who was also a miner. Manogue's student body consists of approximately 650 students. In 2004, Manogue's athletic program moved up from the Northern Nevada 3A Region to the Northern Nevada 4A Region, despite being well below the 1200 student minimum for Nevada 4A schools.
