Born
Sevenoaks in 1922, Geoffrey Anson was educated at Harrow, where he played cricket, and at theUniversity of Cambridge .Wisden Cricketers' Almanack 1979, [http://content-uk.cricinfo.com/wisdenalmanack/content/story/228566.html Obituaries before 1978] ] It was at Cambridge where he made his first-class debut, playing against Essex. [http://cricketarchive.co.uk/Archive/Players/27/27490/First-Class_Matches.html First-class matches played by Geoffrey Anson] at CricketArchive] Good performances against Yorkshire and Middlesex, against whom he scored 106, his highest first-class score, led to him having his blue almost secure, but commitments with theColonial Service meant that he missed the match against Oxford University.Later in the year he played seven
County Championship matches for his native Kent, his last first-class match coming against Somerset in August. In April 1949, he played a five-day match for Nigeria against Gold Coast inLagos .
