"Apomyrma stygia" is a species of ant found in West Africa, first described in 1970 (1971) [cite journal |author=Brown, W. L., Jr., W. H. Gotwald, et Levieux |date=1970 (1971) |title=A new genus of ponerine ants from West Africa (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) with ecological notes |journal=Psyche |volume=77 |pages=259-275] . It is the only species in the genus "Apomyrma". A newly described species, "Opamyrma hungvuong", is apparently related to "Apomyrma" [cite journal |author=Yamane, Seiki, Tuan Viet Bui & Katsuyuki Eguchi |date=2008-05-12 |title="Opamyrma hungvuong", a new genus and species of ant related to "Apomyrma" (Hymenoptera: Formicidae: Amblyoponinae) |journal=Zootaxa |volume=1767 |pages=55–63] .
