species =Donna Bishop was a
fictional character in the Australiansoap opera "Home and Away ", portrayed by Nicola Quilter. She was introduced towards the end of 1994 and served a term as a regular during 1995.Character history
Donna had lived in
Summer Bay as a child and attended school there but then left the town in order to attend university.At the time she had been engaged to Rob Storey but they split some time after her departure.She returned to the Bay late in 1994 after taking a teaching position at the high school.She was reunited with Rob, who was also working at the school.She was initially friendly towards him but on learning that his current girlfriend
Roxanne Miller had breast cancer she backed off to give him some space.Needing somewhere to stay, Donna moved into the spare room at Michael and Pippa Ross' place.Unfortunately, no-one explained to her that the lock on the bathroom door was faulty, resulting in Jack Wilson walking in on her while she was coming out of the shower.Since she had her back to him at the time, he didn't see much but she still caught him bragging about it to his friends at school.Jack attempted to make it up to her by giving her a demonstration of how to lock the door but this merely resulted in more embarrassment when a bemused Michael caught them in the bathroom together.
When Roxy walked out on Rob, Donna stepped in to comfort him and it appeared for a time that they might get together.However, Donna was then rocked by the arrival of her ex-boyfriend Andrew Warren, another new member of the Summer Bay High staff.Donna informed Rob and the rest of the Bay that Andrew used to beat her and she was determined not to let him control her again.However, when Donna ended up hitting Andrew during an argument she felt ashamed, thinking it meant she was no better than him.She apologised to Andrew and began to soften towards him.Much to Rob's horror, they started dating again and Donna move in with him.
Things seemed fine until Andrew became jealous of Donna spending time with Rob and her other old friend
Travis Nash and ended up hitting her during an argument.She instantly walked out on him.When she went back to the flat later to get her belongings, Andrew turned up unexpectedly and attacked her again but fortunately Rob arrived in time to rescue her and Andrew was arrested.Once more it looked like Rob and Donna might get back together but instead she moved in with Travis and soon after the pair became an item.Donna found herself somewhat unwillingly in loco parentis when her teenaged brother Gus came to stay.After a disastrous romance with
Sally Fletcher , Gus made plans to run away, taunting Donna about the fact that by failing to control him she would no longer be seen as the perfect daughter.Donna resorted to blackmail, telling Gus if he didn't co-operate she would report all his recent activities, including smashing the Rosses' window and burning Jack's guitar, to the police.She then forced Gus to return to their parents.Nevertheless, Gus' comments had stung Donna, who began to feel she had become predictable.She resigned her position at the school and decided to go travelling with Travis.However, the relationship didn't work out and a short time later he returned to the Bay without her.
