Ukrainian literature refers to
literature written in theUkrainian language . Ukrainian literature had a difficult development. The difference between spoken Ukrainian and written Ukrainian was at times very large, due to Ukraine being constantly dominated by other states such asLithuania ,Poland ,Russia , andAustria-Hungary , and at many times the use of the Ukrainian language was prohibited in print. The original literature in Kievan Rus was written in the
