Robert Isaac Field

Robert I. Field chairs the Department of Health Policy and Public Health at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. His research and publications cover many areas of health care regulation, including managed care, pharmaceutical regulation, genetic screening, and health system structure. He is also a senior fellow of the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics at the University of Pennsylvania and a member of the adjunct faculty of the Wharton School.

Previously, he served as director of planning and physician practice acquisitions for the University of Pennsylvania Health System, as a health care attorney for a major Philadelphia law firm, and as a member of the research staff of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences.

Prof. Field received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College, magna cum laude, law degree from Columbia Law School, master's in public health from the Harvard School of Public Health, and doctorate in psychology from Boston University [ [http://www.healthcareregulation.net/page_1167590267046.html Health Care Regulation - About the Author ] ] .

Dr. Field underpins his teaching and research with diverse practical experience in health care law and regulation, health system planning and development, and health policy analysis. He has worked in private law firms, a major academic medical center, and policy research centers, including the Institute of Medicine. His consulting work has extended to the Japanese Ministry of Health.

He is frequently asked to comment for major newspapers on late-breaking developments in health care.

In addition to chairing USP’s Department of Health Policy and Public Health and directing the Health Policy Program, Dr. Field is a Senior Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania's Leonard Davis Institute and Lecturer in Health Care Systems at the Wharton School.
