Beloit Janesville Symphony

The Beloit Janesville Symphony was founded in 1954. It was originally known as the Beloit Civic Symphony and later became known as the Beloit Janesville Symphony Orchestra. It is now known as the Beloit Janesville Symphony.

The founding director in 1954 was Lewis Dalvit. Dr. Crawford Gates was the next director for 34 years between 1963 and 1999. The current music director is Dr. Robert Tomaro. Under their leadership, the symphony has grown to attract players from southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.

Over the years, the symphony has grown from 35 to over 80 performers. The Beloit Janesville Symphony performs 15 concerts each year in Beloit, and Janesville, Wisconsin, including a free patriotic Pops concert performed in Beloit and Janesville each July, 4th, symphonic concerts, a Pops concert, and 3 student performances.
