Zakhar Prilepin

Zakhar Prilepin ( _ru. Захар Прилепин, real name Yevgeniy Nikolayevich Lavlinskiy , _ru. Евгений Николаевич Лавлинский ; born July 7, 1975) is a Russian writer, political dissident, and a member of Russia's unregistered National Bolshevik Party since 1996.

After completing his philology studies he worked initially as a packer, a security guard and a journalist before joining a special military unit. As a captain he took part in anti-terror deployments in Chechnya in 1996 and 1999. Having participated in two writing seminars in 2004 (with Roman Senchin and Leonid Yuzefovich amongst others) he became an author. Prilepin is married and has two sons. He lives in Nizhny Novgorod.Prilepin was one of the organizers of Dissenters March in Nizhny Novgorod. In 2008 he won Russian National Bestseller Award for his book "Sin" ( _ru. Грех)
