Sven Matthes (born 1969-08-23, East Germany [http://www.gbrathletics.com/me23.htm European Under 23 All-Time List] , GBR Athletics, accessed 2008-6-13] ) is a German sprinter who held the World Junior Record in 60 metres for 13 years between 1988 and 2001 with a time of 6.53 seconds [http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtml?xml=/sport/2001/03/11/solisb12.xml The Telegraph] , World Indoor Championships: Caines caps rise with gold medal, 2001-3-11, accessed 2008-6-13] .

Matthes also received a bronze medal in 100 metres in the European Championships in Athletics in Birmingham, England in 1984 with a time of 10.47 seconds [ [http://www.european-athletics.org/files/fanzone/ECH_Junior_Men.pdf Junior Men Rankings] , European Athletics Championships, accessed 2008-6-13.] . He improved his time to 10.11 seconds in Rostock on June 22, 1989 and holds a spot in "European Under-23 All Time List" with this performance.
