Fanfare (ballet)

"Fanfare" is a ballet made by New York City Ballet balletmaster Jerome Robbins to Britten's "The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra", op.34 (1945) in celebration of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II; the premiere took place on Coronation Night, June 2, 1953, at City Center of Music and Drama, New York. "The Young Person's Guide" begins with variations and end with a fugue on a theme by Henry Purcell.
