Halle Tony Garnier

The Halle Tony Garnier is a concert hall and exhibitions district Gerland in Lyon, France.

History

Renamed the "Bercy" of Lyon since its transformation in the 1990 indoor concerts and exhibitions, Halle Tony Garnier houses first cattle market of the town. It takes a more industrial structural principle of the room Machines created in Paris for the Universal Exhibition of 1889. Tony Garnier and the engineer Bertrand de Fontviolant inspired to design the great hall of the cattle market of slaughterhouses"Fly". Inaugurated in 1914 for the Universal Exhibition Lyon, it was requisitioned as a weapons factory at the Great War. Renamed thereafter Halle Tony Garnier, it remains the most eloquent testimony of the City Industrial outlined by Tony Garnier. Of all the buildings slaughterhouses, only the hall was kept at the beginning of the renovation 90 years.

Architecture

Once 1905, the architect Tony Garnier is given by the mayors Jean-Victor Augagneur and Edouard Herriot, many works such as slaughterhouses The Fly, 'hospital Grange-Blanche, Stade Gerland, the Monument to the Dead Parc de la Tete d'Or, the School of Weaving of the Croix-Rousse, or the district État-Unis of Lyon, then one of the largest shipyards in the world."'The Halle Tony Garnier is included in the inventory of Monuments for 1975 ."'

Its area of 17,000 square metres is equivalent to not less than two football fields placed end to end, and technical prowess, the metal frame of his building is in one piece, without a central pillar. Developed by Atelier of Rize, the scenario has a modular room with bleachers and the stage may adopt different configurations and s'escamoter entirely in the basement to clean slate. Cut by plateaus of 210 square metres (200 tons), the new bleachers mobile based on two feet folding positions.
