[http://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/Corporation/living_environment/open_spaces/hampstead_heath.htm Hampstead Heath ] ] The Eastern (Highgate ) side is known as Parliament Hill Fields, and the area's girls' school,Parliament Hill School , is named after it.Once known as Traitors' Hill, it acquired its current name during the
English Civil War when it was occupied by troops loyal to theEnglish Parliament . The hill is not, as the name might suggest, home to the Houses of Parliament: they are located several miles south of the hill, inWestminster , though it does have a good view of them.Informally, part of it is now called Kite Hill due to its popularity with kite flyers. The hill is around 321 feet (98 m) high and is notable for the excellent views it provides of the London skyline. It is possible to see the skyscrapers of
Canary Wharf and theCity of London , along withSt Paul's Cathedral and other landmarks, all together in one view, some of which areprotected views .References
