Zimbabwe , mostly as businessmen. Indians started arriving at the end of the 19th century when the territory was still known asSouthern Rhodesia . Their further immigration were restricted after 1923 when the colony became a self-administered territory of United Kingdom. They gradually prospered and established themselves and their families.Recent developments have been very disturbing, as the Indian community has now become the target of Zimbabwe's black veterans of the
Rhodesian Bush War , who over the past two years seized white farmers' property without any compensation. The Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association would now target Indians in the country who are mostly in business. The Indian professionals have mostly fled the country when its economy tumbled following lawlessness that has been prevalent over the last few years. Poor, unskilled and unemployed Zimbabweans are attacking farms that belong to white families and redistributing it to native Africans. This situation in untenable and the future of the Indian communtiy looks dim.References
