- Drag-to-Disc
Drag-to-Disc (formerly DirectCD) is
packet writing software. There were two separate products under the name DirectCD, both from
Adaptec (later Roxio):
* "DirectCD for Windows". Originally made by Incat Systems, developers ofEasy CD Creator , with which DirectCD was bundled. It is now supported byRoxio (currently a division and brand ofSonic Solutions ). A substantially revised product known asDrag-to-Disc is bundled with the earlier Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 and the laterEasy Media Creator . Direct CD conflicted with the Windows XP drag and drop CD burning interface. DirectCD has the advantage over Nero'sInCD of being able to create compressed volumes, allowing to store more data on a CD.
* "DirectCD for Macintosh". Developed at Adaptec (Roxio). Was sold as a separate product. Supported only the sequential CD-R ("VAT") writing mode, meaning that CD-RWs would be used like CD-Rs, without being able to recover space by deleting files on the volume.ee also
