Gaurishanka Udayshankar Oza (1805–1891) (also known as Gaga Oza) was chief minister of
Bhavnagar state,India from 1850 to 1879. He was very well known and well respected for his keen statesmanship. Takhtsinhji was of 12 years old. Because of his young age, the British suggested joint administration of the state until he reached adult age.. During this joint administration, Gaurishankar Oza represented the Bhavnagar state and practically ran it till 1878.During his time, he ran the state in excellent way. The state increased the turnover from just 4 lack rupees to 40 lack rupees during this time. He retired in 1879.
