- Thousand Dollar Bee
"Thousand Dollar Bee" was a children's
game show airing on the now-defunctBlack Family Channel , hosted by Sinatra Onieyewacki. It was produced byRobert Townsend Productions.Round 1
Dubbed "The Sting Zone", the first round had six children (split into two teams of three) competing to spell words in different categories. Each contestant picked one of three categories, and then had 20 seconds to spell as many words correctly. The highest scoring contestant of each team moved on to round two. Presumably, if a half ended in a tie, then a toss-up spelling word was played, and if spelled correctly, he or she moved on.
Round 2
The "Scramble Round" involved the two remaining children moving magnetized letters around on a board to form words, just like on
Soul Train 's Scramble Game. When 60 seconds were up, the contestants could earn bonus points by using each of their words correctly in a sentence, similar to "Wheel of Fortune "'s short-lived "Megaword" category.Round 3
The final round was the "Lightning Round", and the presenter read a word to both contestants, who buzzed in to spell the word. If correct, he or she scored a point, but if wrong, the opponent got a chance to spell the word. Between 10 and 12 words were used in the round, and the highest score (combined from rounds two and three) won the game.
Final Round
In the "Story Round", the contestant had two minutes to write a story, making sure to include five of the words used on the day's program.
