- Office humor
-
Office Humor generally refers to sarcastic, funny, and or witty comments, commentary or depictions of and about common white-collar office working environments. The modern offices' environment has been a source of comedy ever since the rise of white-collar jobs. The term, however, was coined in the 1990s when office humor became particularly prevalent and started being the sole focus of some comedic work. It is now represented in comic strips (Dilbert, Help Desk (webcomic), Sosiaalisesti rajoittuneet), movies (Office Space), and TV series (The Peter Principle, The Office). Office humor comes in many forms. No matter the format, medium or genre, it usually pokes fun at the boss, the customer, or co-workers. Office humor must be directed at the aforementioned targets, the office itself, or circumstances that only someone involved with the office, or offices in general can relate to. Simply being funny at work does not constitute office humor.
