Biography

Haluk Dinçer was born in Istanbul, Turkey in 1962. Having attended the prestigious St. Joseph High School (Istanbul), he received a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1985 and an M.B.A. in 1988, both from the University of Michigan. Career

Haluk Dinçer began his career in the U.S. as a project engineer at General Motors Technical Center in 1985. He proceeded to work in various sectors within and outside Turkey over the next ten years.

Dinçer joined the Sabanci Group in 1995, serving as the Executive Vice Chairman of the Board of TemSA for six years. He was appointed Vice President of the Food and Retail Group in 2001, and Food Group President in 2002.

Dinçer has held the position of the President of the Retail Group since 2004. He is also the Chairman of the Board of the group’s retail companies CarrefourSA, DiaSA, and TeknoSA. [ [http://www.sabanci.com/En/popup_yonetim_halukdincer.asp "Ibid."] .]

Non-Business Activities

Haluk Dinçer is the Chairman of DEIK / Turkish-American Business Council. Dinçer also sits on the board of TÜSIAD – Turkish Industrialists and Businessmen’s Association, American Turkish Council in Washington D.C. and American Turkish Society in New York. Personal life
