List of Super Bowl champions

This is a list of Super Bowl champions, that is, all the franchises that have won the championship game of the National Football League (NFL). Super Bowls are held in an American city that is chosen years in advance, usually in warm-weather or domed sites. Prior to the 1970 AFL-NFL Merger merge of the American Football League (AFL) and the National Football League (NFL), the two leagues met in a World championship game. Currently the NFC leads in Super Bowl wins with 20, while the AFC has won 18.cite web | work=NFL.com | url=http://www.nfl.com/superbowl/history | title=Super Bowl History | accessdate=2008-01-13] The NFL and AFL each won two World Championships.

Only six football teams have yet to appear in the Super Bowl: Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, and New Orleans Saints.
